It's finished 🙌

Got it done in between showers 🌧️

No end grain on show and more importantly no mitres

All decks look good for about a week, I'd rather build one that will look just as good for years to come

Very happy with how these have turned out, to go from some tired looking slabs to these beautiful doors is very rewarding

A lot of time and effort goes into working with timber slabs,nothing's flat or straight

You've got to work with the timber to get everything out of it but I think it was worth it

And I even had time to whittle some handles!

Let's hope she likes them otherwise you will see them on marketplace tomorrow 😂

Barn doors I'm currently making

So Ive pulled out my trusty cabinet scraper and it's working like a charm. Sometimes the old ways are still the best

This black wattle has been stored for years and it's really hard and dense.

Some of you may never have used a cabinet/ card scraper but it's a handy thing to have , you can make one from an old handsaw

My hot take on joist tape

This is just my opinion and my reasoning in this situation

Some of you will argue different and that's fine, I'm just putting forward another perspective on this

There's not many occasions you want to trap moisture and I don't see why decking is any different.

If it's going to get wet, set it up so it can dry out

Moisture is timbers worst enemy, it attracts fungus and the start of rot

What do you think?

My stairs 😍

From rough sawn timber to beautifully milled tallowwood

I'm probably a bit premature fitting these stairs but I was sick of climbing a step ladder to get in the house

It's really hard to do a step by step video whilst keeping it interesting

Not a fan of pine joists but speed and costs sometimes come in to play

Don't fix joists hard together,pack in-between to allow them to dry out 🤙
