For years, I thought I was gathering feedback in my business. Looking back, I was basically gathering validation 🔂
The obvious ones were:
✅ Asking clients for feedback after classes
✅ Encouraging newsletter readers to hit reply
✅ Asking podcast listeners to leave reviews
But, realistically, a deeper list included these behaviours:
💔 Checking open rates and engagement a little too often
💔 Feeling hurt when someone left my classes
💔 Taking cancellations a little too personally
💔 Wondering what I’d done wrong when a client disappeared
💔 Taking silence personally
💔 Feeling disproportionately good when someone praised my work
💔 Wanting reassurance that I was doing a good job
None of these things are inherently bad.
The difference is WHY I was doing them.
At the time I ran my fitness business, I wasn’t just looking for information, I was often looking for proof that I was valued 🤗
Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing the other side of this:
⭐⭐⭐ The ways I used my business to avoid criticism ⭐⭐⭐
Because low self-worth doesn’t just make you seek approval...
It can make you fear disapproval too.
Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow’s post 👀
Thanks for reading.
Yours in self-worth,
