Furniture flipping didn’t give me confidence…

It showed me how to build it.

Every piece and business decision taught me:
– to trust myself
– to stop overthinking
– to take action before I felt ready

Confidence isn’t something you wait for.

It’s something you create — by doing.

By trying.
By figuring it out as you go.

That’s the real transformation.
Not the furniture…

You.

There was a past version of me who felt lost — lacking inspiration and confidence in myself.

I was showing up to 9–5 jobs that drained me, just waiting for the day to end, convinced I’d never find a way to make money doing something I actually enjoyed.

Then I discovered furniture upcycling.

When I transformed a curb-side coffee table in under an hour and sold it for $200 within 24 hours on Gumtree, something shifted. I tapped into a part of me that had been dormant for a really long time…

A part that felt excited, lit up, and motivated. A part that wanted to keep going — not just for the money, but for the joy of it.

In a recent session with my psychologist, she pointed out that I tend to discredit the success I’ve had — building a business and growing a social media following of over 50k. That I struggle to truly acknowledge how far I’ve come.

She was right.

Because if you had told me 10 years ago that I’d be running a business I love from my garage, with a 50k following… I wouldn’t have believed you and would have squealed with excitement.

And yet, here I am — still sometimes feeling like it’s not enough.

But the truth is, even though the business still has room to grow and I have so much more to learn, it’s the internal transformation I’m most proud of.

The way I’ve shed limiting beliefs, worked through self-doubt, and broken old patterns.

The confidence I’ve built.

The proof I’ve given myself that it is possible to make money doing what you love — when you back yourself with the right mindset.

Because growth doesn’t come from reaching the final destination…

It comes from who you become along the way.

And this — this is what truly lights me up now.

Helping others experience that kind of transformation too.

Start sh*tty ✨

This post is just as much a reminder for myself as it is to everyone else, in all aspects of life not just furniture flipping.

Perfection is an illusion that’s keeps us small and stifles our growth.

It’s so easy to stay stuck because of fear of making mistakes and getting things “wrong” …but what if there was no wrong…just lessons, growth and feedback?

How would you move differently?

Hot tips if you’re wanting to flip furniture for extra cash during these crazy economic times 💰♻️

- Focus on quality solid timber pieces, even if you have to spend a little extra. A profitable flip is built on a solid foundation and minimal repair work.

- Stick to small to medium sized pieces. Things like bedsides and hall tables are popular household furniture items with far less surface area to cover than large items like hutches or dining tables. Less labor = bigger profit margins.

- Use the right products like mineral paints with built in top coats or chalk paints that don’t require a primer to increase efficiency.

- Put the time and effort into staging and photography!

- If you want a fast turn around, price competitively.

- Don’t forgot to enjoy the process and use the time spent to switch off from chaos of the world 🌎

You might think you’re just wanting to learn how to make old furniture look beautiful again, but what I found when I first started over a decade ago and what most of my students find is that the real transformation happens internally.

It starts with an inkling of excitement, a curiosity, a possibility of finding your “thing” that can bring a little joy and even extra income in your sphere.

When you follow the nudge and take action, soon enough a few new skills and some paint turn into something much deeper.

Something to focus on
something to be excited about
something that makes you feel lit up
A moment of pride when you sell your first piece
A feeling of satisfaction when you look around your home and see a masterpiece you created yourself

Never underestimate the power of a creative pursuit in bringing some aliveness back into your soul!

Are you ready to stop scrolling and start flipping and reconnecting to your creative potential?

Group and private workshops available on the Gold Coast.

In 2022 I had a very public manic episode during an NLP practitioner training I attended.

At that point in time I hadn’t yet come to accept my bipolar 1 diagnosis and I was hoping that I was going to somehow cure the illness without the need for medication whilst becoming a coach myself.

The denial was coming from a place of shame and self loathing, not wanting to accept a diagnosis that made me feel broken and alone.

Ironically what I was hoping could help me ended up with me being hospitalised with mania/psychosis during the training.

After displaying symptoms so publicly, I was filled with humiliation, shame and confusion. One of the toughest episodes I’ve been through that left me feeling so misunderstood.

Since then and through much introspection, I’ve come to realise that Bipolar disorder is best managed (for me personally) through a combination of medication, therapy, exercise, diet, creative outlets and most importantly, self acceptance and self love.

I truly believe that the only way toward healing is through full self acceptance and embracing your uniqueness.

For a long time after that episode, I told myself I couldn’t coach. Who would listen to someone like me? But I’ve decided that it’s my unique journey and perspective that makes me the perfect person to help others.
