Sometimes finding stock is hard, and at times you gotta pay more than what you intended. So in those times, you just have roll with it and accept that the profit you make will not be as great as you first anticipated.

I paid $400 for this stunner Alrob from Bendigo. It’s not the most expensive piece I’ve purchased, but it’s up there! Initially I thought I could get away with not doing anything but I soon discovered a failing finish after I gave it a clean.

This has been one of my favourite pieces because of the subtle colour variations in the drawers. In different angles and lighting, the drawer fronts sparkle.

I bought these bedside tables for $160 thinking they were mid century but they were just reproduction! How could I tell you ask? Well the legs had huge stickers on them A.A B.B C.C D.D. The only thing going for these bedside tables is that they were solid Mango wood which was a breeze to work with and they did kinda look cool with all the random grain swirls. I purchased new handles from , freshened the tables up with a new finish, repaired a drawer, and Robert’s your mother’s brother, they were ready to jump on Marketplace.

Another gamble but with minimal gain. I paid $200 for a set of super orange bedside tables. From the sun fade marks and the holes in the sides I could tell that they were once attached to a bed head.

My buyer didn’t really love the tinker-blinker hardware I originally selected, so I offered another option of plain gold. Luckily, it didn’t cost me anything because I have a stash of MCM drawer pulls in the shed that I collect from hard rubbish. A lot of laminate units have really good hardware so it’s worth pulling the car over for a squiz and a quick treasure hunt.

These two 70s Reliance bedside tables, part of the set for $400, were painted dark blue by a local furniture flipper. No shade toward the previous owner for asking this to be done because painted furniture is a personal preference. My preference however is getting furniture as close to original as possible and back to a timber finish.

I replaced the backings with plywood and made a cut out of the back to allow for charging cables.

This set of bedside tables and a dresser went to a lovely teenage girl that has an appreciation for vintage furniture. They were sold without a listing and before I even got a chance to take staging pics with proper lighting 😅 so enjoy what ever pics I could get 🤣

I bought this Reliance dresser with bedside tables for $400 🫣

Some people will probably say I’m an idiot, but this is the first gamble I took buying something more than $100 and it paid off. When a Reliance dresser on its own, in restored condition, can be sold for anywhere between $800-$1200, I thought I didn’t really have anything to lose.

Coated with and a lot of elbow grease. This piece was a work out!

The buyer only had to hear that I had a matching set of unlisted bedside tables, and she said ‘shut up and take my money!’

I picked up this Kenray Furniture treasure from Bendigo for $30 - BARGAIN!

[SOLD]
Kenray Furniture dresser. Made in Australia circa 1960.

Stained with Stain and finishing oil in the colour Golden Pine.

The legs didn’t have brass caps so I improvised and spray painted where the caps should have been with gold spray paint. You can’t even tell they are not real! 🙀
