The past month in Foray has been a time of slow and steady intention. We have hung beautiful new artworks, welcomed new brands to the shelves, sourced vintage pieces, and I’ve also started taking bookings for my 2024 private styling consultations in the region.

I’ve learnt over the years that authentic work must be built upon daily habits of consistency, and that progress is often best seen from a long term point of view. So this is how I am approaching the cultivation of Foray this year…. Rather than allowing the goals to overtake daily practice — actually digging into the process and intentionality that will enrich the community that gathers through this work, this space, this social platform.

I’d love to know what you find useful, inspiring, or refreshing about the Foray exploration. Every message and feedback means so much to me and informs my creative practice as a stylist and also small business owner.

At home with Abbie Melle. Layered moments of natural elements and books, vintage and brass, ceramic and florals — always a gorgeous mix.

Featuring our beautiful ceramic clay Vase by Tash (a new batch will be released next week!), a luxury scented French candle from Lola James Harper and the ceramic sharing & pedestal bowls made by hand in Byron Bay. Detailing small ceramic pearls around the rim of the bowl and glazed in a soft satin white. No two pieces will ever be exactly the same.

The concept for the FORAY experience was born from a desire to provide pieces that have been a challenge to find in regional Australia. So it is our joy to bring this within reach of those who dwell in the country and those who travel through.

We believe nothing compares to personally sensing and immersing oneself in an experience of good design. Hoping you will resonate with the FORAY experience when you visit, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.

Ceramics are naturally artful objects that can be styled easily on a shelf, dresser, or kitchen counter. We will be bringing you an exclusive new batch of stunning vases and vessels handcrafted by .ceramics in coming weeks. There will be a limited number of our favourite olive green glaze vases alongside a small number of dark clay and new to Foray — a few in the natural white glaze too.

In the past, these pieces have typically sold out in store to some of our discerning collectors as they are beautiful objects for home interiors. Each one is uniquely individual.

Watertight for styling florals and seasonal greenery — yet equally striking when contemplated on their own.

A quiet festive mood. We’re enjoying these days of rest and spending time with family. I’ve also had time to pop in and restyle the summer Foray window, farewelling Christmas until next time. Over the next few weeks we will be looking forward to envisaging another year of FORAY and all it will hold.

If you’d like to secure the remainder of our gorgeous Foray festive ornaments to put away for next year — the Christmas collection is now on sale for the next few weeks only! I hope you enjoy selecting some treasures.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend. I’ll be unpacking a beautiful new collection of ceramics and artworks tomorrow — always a moment of joy, opening the work of other makers and then sharing it with you.

There is a story behind every piece and brand I work with. This intention pervades the manner in which the Foray offering is presented.

It is a privilege to bring these to you in a bricks and mortar setting, a place of genuine tactility. I want you to enjoy the process of gathering and building upon a collection of items that are made well, infusing beauty into your spaces.

The kitchen corner invites curiosity and tactility, with a handpicked selection of useful, quality items.
Originally I was planning to paint the floating shelves the same colour as the wall. Yet in the moment, it felt right to leave the raw timber — a natural material that grounds the handcrafted pieces that rest upon it.
The beauty is that this corner can change over the years. Working with natural materials allows flexibility in the design process, as there are multiple ways that raw substances can be adapted to over time.

Thank you for your kind messages and supportive visits as we celebrate six weeks into the Foray journey. I’m delighted to help you build your home style with consideration and authenticity.

We’ve curated another small collection of vintage pieces and artworks to share with you in store. The beautiful items in our front window have been sold to local homes, but there are some lovely pieces and antique pots now in their place.

The culmination of years dreaming and working towards a vision. It’s very close to my heart opening my own concept space, and a sister store to Saddler & Co, all within a lovely premises that we've been renovating in south Dubbo.
With a heartfelt drive to create — from experiential spaces, creative collaborations, showcasing artisanal design — was born the realisation of expansion.
