What makes our team different is our specialised experience working at youth parties, family events and private functions.

All of our staff are experienced supervisors who have been specifically trained to work in youth party environments. Every team member holds a current Working With Children Check, providing parents and hosts with additional peace of mind.

Many of our staff have backgrounds in law enforcement and bring extensive experience in communication, conflict resolution and risk management. We also ensure our teams are mixed gender, allowing us to engage effectively with a diverse range of guests and situations.

Prior to every event, a detailed risk assessment is completed. This allows our staff to understand the unique requirements of the venue, guest demographics and any identified concerns. Comprehensive pre-event briefings ensure our team arrives prepared and informed.

Our approach is low-key, professional and family-focused. Guests are greeted warmly and respectfully. We are not interested in creating an intimidating atmosphere. Instead, we focus on building rapport, maintaining visibility and helping events run smoothly.

Communication is another key factor in event safety. Our teams maintain ongoing communication throughout the event and, when required, liaise directly with Victoria Police and emergency services to ensure any concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.

Professional security is not simply about responding to incidents. It is about creating an environment where incidents are less likely to occur in the first place.

For hosts, parents and event organisers, that means greater confidence, reduced stress and the ability to focus on enjoying the event knowing an experienced team is helping keep everyone safe.

A message to hosts and parents planning parties and events:

Recently, a parent contacted us to provide security for an 18th birthday party. After conducting a full physical assessment of the venue and event, we agreed on a responsible approach to alcohol management to help ensure the safety of all guests.

A week later, we were informed that the plan had changed - alcohol would be made freely available with no limits, and security would simply “step in if fights broke out.”

Unfortunately, if that is the expectation, we cannot assist.

Our priority is providing a safe environment for our staff, guests, and everyone attending the event. Hosts also have a duty of care to ensure their event is managed responsibly.

Security should never be treated as a “clean up crew” for preventable situations caused by poor planning or irresponsible alcohol service.

We are committed to helping you create a safe, professional, and enjoyable event -not a disaster waiting to happen.

If you want your event to finish at the scheduled time instead of being shut down early, proactive safety, respectful crowd management, and experienced staff who help prevent problems before they start, we’re here to help.

☕ Speed Safety – Coffee & a Yarn

Got a safety question you’ve been meaning to ask? Come grab a coffee and have a relaxed chat ☕

I’m running some casual “speed safety” sessions—think speed dating, but for real-life safety tips. You’ll get a 10-minute one-on-one with me where you can ask anything safety-related in a friendly, no-pressure space.

We can chat about things like:
• Youth party safety (alcohol, compliance, looking after young people)
• Personal safety (at home or out—like why not to deadlock doors from the inside or how to protect yourself from drink spiking)
• Safety tips for mature-aged clients (like safer ways to access your money)
• Keeping your home secure while you’re away (simple ways to make it look lived in)
• Event safety for weddings, funerals & gatherings (when you might need professional security)
• Or anything else that’s on your mind

No question is too small—this is your chance to get practical advice tailored to you.

A bit of perspective too—despite what people sometimes say about safety concerns in remote areas, when I was in Katherine NT supporting communities, it really wasn’t any different to anywhere else. No matter where you live, situational awareness is key. If we stay aware of our surroundings, we can reduce risk. It’s something that was drilled into me as a rookie cop back in 1989—and it’s exactly why I’m starting these regular coffee & yarn catch-ups.

👉 Just a heads-up: it’s a casual catch-up, so everyone grabs their own coffee.

Come along, have a yarn, and walk away feeling a bit more confident about your safety 💬

just after leaving Victoria Police.

My kids ( now adults ) are also part of the team of experienced staff that work within the company.

The services that we provide are all things family - weddings, parties, funerals ( yes!) and the list goes on
However as a result of many enquiries from residents that don’t always have friends/ family to rely on - we have now another family support service - called ‘Safe as Houses’

Imagine having someone you can trust to look after your home while you travel…

Parent helpers can make or break a party -

As the host - only you have the power

Preparation-
Despite all my planning, preparation, and assessment of your home, I can’t make the host do what I need to keep everyone safe at your child’s event.
I can’t force you to:
· Cap guests at 100.
· Sort them alphabetically.
· Sign & return my disclaimer on time, so my security team can attend legally & work safely.

Arrival-
On the night, I can’t make you supply what we agreed for swift, safe guest entry:
*Adequate lighting.
*A coherent guest list.
*Sober helpers

Success -

But when you do have a plan and support security the event is an amazing success - just like the event a few weeks ago- a huge success for a difficult age group ( 15 years) and credit to the police for a few drive bys 🙂

So this is a shout out to all parents that spend the time planning a great event for their child and ensuring all the guest that attend your home are safe - well done 👍🏾

Only you have the power to make this happen.

FAMILY HOME PARTIES: AFFORDABLE..BUT NOT ALWAYS THE SAFEST OPTION

Balconies, Swimming Pools, Trampolines, “Anything Goes” Environments

Stop. Assess. Secure.

The last 12 months we have seen an increase in parties within the family home . Combination of cost of living and also the lack of public venues available

During the last year there has been various events where balconies that are packed with people collapse

ABC Newshttps://www.abc.net.auTeenagers treated in hospital after balcony collapse during house party ...

Several guests fell more than two metres – many sustaining injuries.

I have also observed first hand injuries from guests that have jumped into swimming pools or on a trampoline ( despite ‘flagging’ to parents the risks) which have left injuries to the guest - normally broken bones or head injuries.

When I conduct a Safety Assessment on a prospective party property, I will establish whether or not your venue is safe.
Based on my experience, I strongly discourage parties where balconies, pools and trampolines are located, particularly when they are alcohol affected.

We’ve learnt the (very) hard way that these hazards can add issues to parties and increase the risk of injury.
We know that young people have a tendency to skylark and ‘show off’
Diving into pools, back flipping on trampolines
and hanging off the sides of balconies
Recently having to assist a young female that had fallen out of the trampoline and hitting her head on a rock, subsequently requiring ambulance attendance.

Lethal Cocktail
Most Family homes are not purpose built for large parties, balconies are not designed or made to withstand dozens of bouncing bodies.

Future
Most issues and injuries can be prevented if safety assessments are conducted.

As a reminder it is the host that is required to provide a duty of care

Alcohol & Teenage Parties- Avoiding The Tangled Web

Navigating alcohol at parties whether it’s a young person or adult.

Within my security firm all staff are assigned to events where alcohol is managed - I will not assign staff to a BYO event or a supply event where alcohol is not served or managed responsibly - I do not want my staff used as punching bags when things go wrong !!

Public liability insurance for youth parties is expensive and this is because of the ‘ gung-ho operators !’ within the industry that assign unqualified, unlicensed, inexperienced or unsuitable staff.

It will come as no surprise to most people that alcohol is the biggest issue when it comes to youth parties. If alcohol is managed sensibly and responsibly, it will determine how the event unravels. We want the event to end in happy memories not tears!!

Whether the event is a supply event or BYO ( Bring Your Own ) responsible management/ service of alcohol is essential

From my experience ( 30 plus yrs) about 50% of the parties I assign crew too are supply events, while the other 50% work under the ‘managed BYO’ approach ( discussed at the pre - party assessment)

MANAGED BYO:
There are a number of positives when using the managed BYO system. (This system is discussed with clients at the pre-party assessment prior to the event )
Managed BYO can reduce the financial burden of supplying alcohol, and it also allows guests to choose what alcohol they bring.
Prevent their booze from being pinched by other guests
Some important points to remember with the ‘ BYO management’ system:
* Parental ( legal guardian) consent is still required- This is because the alcohol will be handled at the entry of the event. *I will discuss below in detail consent *
*During the pre party assessment I will provide parents with the compliance information ( legally reviewed) and demonstration of above*
* the BYO management system , as mentioned, avoids guests drinks being pinched !! Which is always an advantage!
• Alcohol should be conveyed in pre- mix cans only ‘no glass’
• A clear limit should be set on how much alcohol each guest can bring. This is discussed during the pre-party assessment
• Alcohol should be managed by an RSA ( Responsible Service of Alcohol) qualified person. In many cases I will provide an RSA staff member to assist.
•Ensure plenty of water is set up at point of service ( discussed at pre party assessment)
• Ensure plenty of food is available
• Ensure plenty of sober adults are helping ( 1 per 20 guests)

*The responsible management/service of alcohol is essential for a successful party *

SUPPLY:
If you decide to provide/ supply alcohol, ensure that adults bring proof of age, and minors have permission from a parent or guardian. Permission can be provided as a note, text message, email, or confirmed verbally.
Just a reminder to carry out proper due diligence when confirming the consent, as occasionally a young person may try to have a friend pretend to be their parent or guardian, or attempt something similar.
Again ensure alcohol is served responsibly and by someone who has preferably an RSA ( Responsible Service of Alcohol certification)

As I’ve mentioned before, for events where minors attend with alcohol (again we do not endorse underage drinking but we also have to be realistic!) , it is ultimately the parent/host who decides whether alcohol will be permitted into their home. While we know that minors should not be drinking, the reality is that many young people want to copy what the adults are doing.

We have had numerous events where the parents have decided that the event will be alcohol free - but then what happens is the young people pre load ( drink as much as possible before entry) and then are noticeably intoxicated at point of entry. My trained staff will observe the behaviour and demeanour of guests at entry and will deny entry if required. This is both for the safety of other guests, and the protection of the hosts property. They are then returned to their parents that is the duty of care service that we will provide

With alcohol so widely advertised and visible in everyday life, it’s not surprising that it becomes part of the conversation and celebration.

If you need clarity on any of the information pls direct message me or my details can be gained via google

Teen Parties: You’re the Parent, Not the Promoter

Of late we have seen a spike in guest numbers at parties - particularly around the age group of 15-16- if you want to avoid trouble please remember the following points- parties often start with happiness but unfortunately end in tears 😭

🚩 You as the parent call the shots.
This is NOT a popularity contest.

🚩 Restrict numbers (100 max is manageable).
🚩 Social media can be your enemy for these events- be diligent and ask questions?
🚩 If names are on the guest list with no surnames… assume they’re social media “friends” your child has never met. 🚩
🚩 Same goes for “plus ones.”
🚩 Guests should bring student ID or have someone verify who they are. If you’ve got three Jack Smiths… chances are two of them will be trouble.
🚩 All bags stay at the front door ( parent supervision)
🚩 No refreshments equals trouble - 😈 of course your child will say ‘ we don’t need this’ yes we do !!- good food and plenty of water 💧
🚩 Cheap security is pointless- Always use adequate professional security — cheap security is like having half a horse… looks ok, but not much use when you actually need it.

🚩 Pre- loading -Alcohol is the number one issue (more on that next week). Do not allow intoxicated kids within the party until you are confident they are well - once in your party they will be your headache 🤕

🚩 Do not have drunk helpers - Ratio of sober parents to guests should be about 1 for every 20 kids.
And yes… drunk parents can cause just as many headaches — choose your helpers wisely!

🚩 YOU are in charge (worth repeating).

🚩 If your child is out the front negotiating with people trying to get in… that’s a red flag.

🚩 Guest list should be finalised 7 days before the event. If for any reason there is some excuse and the guest list is delayed then that is warning bells- you must have the hard copy of the guest list 7 days prior -if your child saids around 100 then add another 20% as mentioned particularly if the guest list is delayed!

🚩 Not updating the police will mean a slow response. Additionally a lack of resources for an event they did not know about - they have other priorities and they don’t need the extra headache of shutting down a party ( still brings back
Memories of attending parties in the van and having stubbies thrown at us ) so do the right thing and Inform police 7 days prior.

🚩 Nobody likes surprises and that includes your neighbours - Do the right thing by your neighbours and let them know

🚩 If you choose to allow alcohol (and let’s be real — many will expect it), have a clear management plan. Do not allow BYO - as mentioned alcohol is the number one issue that causes fights and so on!)

🚩As the host it is up to you to ensure safety of all finally… you are responsible for every child at the event — including when they leave.

Reach out if you need help — a phone call costs nothing. 3000 parties later and it is still the same issues
