What is the new Lagoon 38 REALLY like when you take it offshore? ⛵
There’s only one way to find out.

As part of the Lagoon 38 Australian premiere tour, experienced skipper Ross Price joined the crew for a three-day passage from Sydney Harbour to the Gold Coast.

And the East Coast gave them a little bit of everything.
🌊 Light conditions leaving Sydney
🌙 Overnight watches
⛵ Building breeze and engines-off sailing
🐬 Pods of dolphins playing off the bow
🌅 Incredible sunsets at sea
🌈 And a rainbow over the Gold Coast Seaway to welcome them in
But beyond the memorable moments, the passage gave Ross the chance to see how the Lagoon 38 performs when you actually live and sail aboard for multiple days.

The verdict?

Easy sail handling, a protected and comfortable helm, plenty of space for the crew and a layout that makes moving around and socialising underway remarkably easy.

As Ross put it:
“It’s a fantastic platform to cruise up and down the East Coast in comfort, whether that’s with family or friends.”

Friends joining you onboard? Send them this first. ⛵

After four seasons of welcoming family and friends onboard, Mike and Linda have learned a few tricks. Don’t lock in the meeting point too early, always ask what kind of experience your guests want, and most importantly... soft bags only! 😂

And forget thinking you need a marina. Sometimes arriving by dinghy to a secluded anchorage becomes one of the best parts of the trip.

Buying a yacht in Europe is the exciting part. Understanding how to stay there long enough to enjoy it is where smart planning begins.

For Australians considering European Delivery, the questions quickly move beyond which Greek island to visit first.

How does the 90/180-day Schengen rule actually work?
Can you spend an entire season in the Mediterranean?
Could a Digital Nomad Visa give you greater flexibility?
And how does Temporary Admission affect a yacht owned by a non-European resident?

After four seasons cruising Europe aboard their Lagoon 46, Jabulani, owners Mike and Linda have navigated these questions firsthand.

Their experience highlights something important: the regulations don’t necessarily need to limit the dream, but they should influence how you plan it.

In their early seasons, Mike and Linda strategically moved between Schengen and non-Schengen countries, including Greece and Turkey, to manage their available days.

Later, a Greek Digital Nomad Visa allowed them to spend significantly more time based in Greece without structuring their entire cruising season around the standard tourist allowance.

They also learned to navigate Temporary Admission arrangements for their yacht, another important consideration for Australians contemplating European ownership.

The lesson after four seasons?
A little knowledge before you take delivery can unlock considerably more freedom once you arrive.
We’ve turned Mike and Linda’s experience into a practical guide covering Schengen rules, longer-stay visa options, Temporary Admission and some of the considerations Australians should understand before buying a yacht in Europe.

How much cruising catamaran can you fit into 38 feet? ⛵

The new Lagoon 38 might just surprise you.

Designed as the successor to the incredibly successful Lagoon 380, the Lagoon 38 brings many of the features we love from Lagoon’s larger models into a more accessible, easy-to-manage package.

Think seamless single-level living, a spacious indoor-outdoor entertaining area, panoramic windows, three or four-cabin layouts and clever storage tucked into seemingly every available space.

For longer adventures, there’s also up to 1,400W of factory-installed solar, generous water capacity and an optional watermaker, while an ergonomic helm and easy sail handling make life simpler when cruising short-handed.

It might be the entry point into the Lagoon range, but it certainly doesn’t feel entry-level once you step onboard.
