Studio Update – Flood Event in Bundaberg
Over the past several days our area has experienced a significant flood event. Our studio was completely surrounded by flood waters and inaccessible to us until this morning.
After visiting the site earlier today, we are incredibly relieved to report that the studio itself remained dry — by the skin of our teeth. Flood waters reached the carpark and entered from the back and side of the shed complex, and another centimetre or two would likely have meant the studio being inundated.
While we are very grateful for this outcome, many neighbouring businesses and homes have not been as fortunate, and clean-up efforts across the area are already underway.
At this stage there is currently no power at the premises, and a large portion of our essential machinery and equipment had been relocated offsite as a precaution and cannot yet be returned.
Because of this, Australis Wood Studio will remain closed for the coming week while the area continues recovery efforts and while we work through the logistics of safely setting the studio back up.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our clients and students.
For those currently enrolled in classes or workshops, we will be in contact to organise refunds, credits, or make-up sessions once we are able to reopen.
In the meantime, we encourage everyone in our community to support those who have been impacted by the floods in whatever ways you can as recovery efforts begin. Please also continue to support our local businesses as they work to get back on their feet in the coming weeks.
We will share further updates as things progress.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and ongoing support.
