Silky oak… I get it now 👀

I’ve seen pieces like this before, but never fully appreciated just how special this timber is until working on it myself!

The grain, the shimmer, the way it catches the light… it’s one of those timbers that doesn’t need much to stand out ✨️

And the best part?
These pieces were made to last.

Not flat-packed.
Not mass produced.
Just solid, character-filled timber with history behind it.

That’s why pieces like this are so sought after —
because once you recognise the quality… it’s hard to go back!

Silky Oak Sideboard /Drawers Available 🧡

This is my first time refurbishing a piece like this… and I completely understand now why it’s so loved here in Australia. The grain, the warmth, the character — it’s just beautiful.

But wow… the sanding 😅
I have a whole new level of appreciation for anyone who restores pieces like this — it’s not for the faint-hearted, that’s for sure.

Definitely one of those projects that reminds me why it’s worth preserving quality furniture instead of replacing it 💫

First time using and I'm obsessed, this is a combo of Fusion Mineral Paint in Cashmere & all raw timber coated in the h**p oil. So dreamy 😍

This little mini saw is honestly such a game changer when you’re starting out.

Furniture quality didn’t change overnight 🪵

One of the biggest shifts happened when plywood started appearing in furniture in the 1920s–30s.

It helped make furniture faster and cheaper to produce, which transformed the industry 💰
But many pieces also began using less solid timber and more manufactured materials.

So before replacing an old piece of furniture…
take a look at how it’s built 🔨

You might be throwing away the better piece! 🤷‍♀️

Dovetail Joints - Furniture Built To Last! 🕊

The interlocking pins and tails prevent the timber from pulling apart, which makes them perfect for drawers that are opened and closed thousands of times over many years.

Many antique pieces still have their original dovetail joinery intact after 100+ years..
That’s the beauty of traditional craftsmanship, strength & durability.

So before replacing old furniture with flat-pack pieces…
take a closer look at what you already have.

This is one of those upgrades you don’t realise you need… until you use it!

When you refurbish furniture regularly, time efficiency and finish quality matters so much… and this tool ticks all those boxes 🤩

It’s one of those tools you hesitate buying because of the price… but once you use it, you realise exactly why.

Expensive- yes
Game changer - also yes!

Safe to say… I can never go back now 😅
