Australian Mid-Century Queensland Maple Cabinet | Restored

A beautifully crafted Australian Mid-Century Queensland Maple cabinet, showcasing the spectacular natural figure and shimmering grain for which this timber is so highly regarded.

This is an exceptionally solid and very heavy piece, with substantial construction throughout. Its compact 77 cm width is deceptive — at 65 cm deep, it offers an impressive amount of storage and has a wonderfully substantial presence.

The Queensland Maple has been carefully restored and finished with oil to enhance, rather than disguise, the timber. The result is a warm natural finish that highlights the remarkable rippled figure across the top, doors and side panels.

Original details have been retained, including the distinctive recessed timber handles and unusual internal configuration. The wide upper drawer is divided into four original 2 × 2 compartments, while the double-door cabinet below contains its original shelving and dividers.

A beautifully made and genuinely unusual piece of Australian mid-century furniture — functional enough for everyday use, but with timber this striking, equally deserving of being a feature piece.

Pair of Vintage Indonesian Hardwood Tallboys | Ming-Style | Exceptional Condition

A striking matching pair of vintage Indonesian hardwood tallboys, believed to date from the late 1980s–1990s. The previous owner advised they have been owned for at least 30 years, and their condition is exceptional for their age.

Beautifully proportioned and incredibly substantial, these tallboys feature an elegant Chinese Ming-inspired design, warm rich timber grain, recessed wooden pulls and traditional detailing. They are extremely heavy and exceptionally well made — a quality that is immediately noticeable the moment you handle them.

Each tallboy features four generous drawers with traditional dovetail joinery and wood-on-wood runners, together with substantial timber framing and classic panelled construction. The beautifully framed top, moulded edges and understated bracket feet give them a timeless architectural presence without being overly ornate.

They have been exceptionally well cared for and retain their beautiful warm vintage finish. Only minor signs of age and use are present, consistent with furniture of this age. No restoration or refinishing has been necessary — they present beautifully exactly as they are.

A beautiful vintage Australian tallboy by Capella Furniture Pty Ltd, carefully and completely restored while preserving the character and warmth of the original timber.

The standout feature is undoubtedly the timber — rich warm tones with striking natural grain across the drawer fronts, complemented by the original long sculpted timber handles that give this piece its distinctive vintage character.

Featuring four generous full-width drawers, it offers excellent storage while maintaining a relatively compact footprint.

The restoration has included careful preparation and refinishing to revive and protect the timber rather than make the piece look artificially new. As an authentic vintage piece, it retains age-related imperfections, variations in the timber, marks and signs of its previous life. These are visible in the photos and form part of its character and history. Please view all photos carefully.
