APCO has hit a major milestone in central Victoria, officially opening its 30th store with the launch of a new service station in the Bendigo suburb of White Hills! ⛽

The Victorian-owned chain has continued its steady growth across the state, with the new White Hills location becoming the latest addition to its expanding network.

The company celebrated the achievement today, thanking customers, staff, suppliers and local communities who have helped fuel its growth along the way – pun absolutely intended.

Locals turned out in strong numbers for the opening, with APCO saying the support from the Bendigo community helped make the occasion even more memorable.

Reaching 30 stores is no small feat in an industry where competition is fierce and motorists are about as loyal as their fuel discount voucher allows.

Over the years, APCO has built a strong following across regional Victoria, becoming known as much for its food and convenience offerings as its fuel pumps.

For many travellers, an APCO stop has evolved from a quick top-up that somehow ends with a cheeky pie, some ultra-processed snacks, and a couple of energy drinks you promised to give up on.

For APCO, however, the focus was firmly on the milestone itself and the people who helped make it happen.

With the ribbon now cut and the doors officially open, White Hills has become home to APCO's 30th store, with plenty of locals keen to be among the first through the door! 🙌🏻

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has reported being out door-knocking across the Bendigo suburb of Epsom today, speaking with locals about cost-of-living pressures, community safety and public services.

In a social media post, the Premier said she was “listening to locals about what matters most to them” and thanked residents for stopping to chat, including what she described as a “beautiful Fijian family” who greeted her with a warm “bula vinaka.”

On the surface, it’s classic campaign-style community engagement – sleeves rolled up, knocking on doors, listening to everyday concerns. But not everyone is buying it.

In political circles and across social media, scepticism is already bubbling. Many simply don’t believe the Premier is casually wandering suburban streets with armed guards unannounced.

Critics argue these appearances are tightly controlled, pre-arranged stops rather than spontaneous doorstep conversations. They see photo opportunities rather than raw, unscripted engagement.

The doubt speaks to a broader issue for the Allan Government. With cost-of-living stress biting hard, crime concerns dominating headlines and frustration over state finances continuing to simmer, public trust in Labor’s messaging has taken a hit.

When leaders post about listening tours, a growing number of voters instinctively question whether they’re hearing genuine feedback or carefully curated encounters.

Supporters will argue that door-knocking is a legitimate and necessary part of political life, and that engaging directly with constituents is precisely what leaders should be doing.

Detractors counter that if the Premier truly wants to gauge sentiment, she should be prepared for unscripted conversations – not filtered snapshots designed for social media.

Whether the Epsom walk was organic or orchestrated, the reaction reveals something important: in the current climate, many Victorians are deeply cynical about political theatre.

And for a government already battling perception problems, including the latest corruption allegations involving CFMEU and the Victorian Labor Party, that cynicism is becoming harder to shake.

A 20-year-old fella has been denied bail after allegedly going on a month-long car-stealing rampage across central Victoria – and the scale of it is outrageous!

The spree spanned across the Bendigo suburbs of Epsom, Flora Hill, Ironbark, Jackass Flat, Junortoun, Kangaroo Flat, Kennington, North Bendigo, and White Hills – along with Castlemaine.

Cops say more than 20 cars were knocked off between April 29 and May 28 – leaving hardworking families stranded, missing work, and scrambling to get their kids to school.

They allege the young bloke teamed up with a 22-year-old to break into cars at La Trobe Uni’s Bendigo campus, the Bendigo public hospital carpark, and even a dealership in Castlemaine.

The pair allegedly smashed windows, swiped wallets, handbags, bank cards – and used a high-tech Autel device to clone keys and start cars without even needing the originals.

Cops say the “nail in the coffin” was CCTV footage allegedly showing the duo handling stolen goods at a storage unit in Golden Square – leased under the name of the 22-year-old's mum.

The 22-year-old was later picked up at a property linked to a Bendigo café, although the owner of that business is not facing any charges.

Police told the court that the 20-year-old showed a “blatant disregard for the privilege of bail” and that his violent behaviour was “escalating” – putting everyday people at serious risk.

His lawyer tried arguing the CCTV footage was “very poor quality” and couldn’t clearly ID the offenders, but the magistrate wasn’t buying it.

Under Victoria’s lax-as-hell bail laws, old mate had already been cut some slack once before — handed a second chance by the system.

And what did he do with it? Allegedly jumped straight back into a month-long crime bender, ripping off cars like it was a bloody side hustle.

So, thankfully, the magistrate refused bail, calling it “rampant property destruction” the “community can’t tolerate.”

Too bloody right. These grubs have caused enough damage – good on the court for keeping him locked up. Let the central Victorian families breathe a bit easier.

Bendigo coppers are chasing down a couple of grubs after a woman was allegedly jumped in Epsom on Thursday arvo.

The woman had just hopped off a bus on Station Street around 5:40pm when these two buggers came up, roughed her up, and nicked her handbag before legging it.

Absolute cowards – stealing from a woman and doing a runner. Police are onto it, and hopefully these two clowns get what's coming to 'em.

Over 40 volunteers and 50 emergency responders have taken part in a planned emergency drill at Bendigo Airport.

The exercise gave local crews a run-through of how things would go down in a real incident – solid practice and plenty of boots on the ground.
