Hi chums, remember this chair?
Well, it turns out that not checking and securing the springs was a colossal stuff-up of gigantic proportions because I had to take most of it apart again and fix them 😫.

My hubby in his quest for supreme slouchyness managed to dislodge a few of them and what was left was a wiry mess. Pulling out all those staples and nails and undoing hours and hours of work was not fun, but it had to be done if we wanted to keep using it, which we did.

I learned so much about positioning and securing springs, which was fun, although I’m still not entirely sure I got it completely right! Still, they shouldn’t move anytime soon because those suckers are tied, re-tied and stitched in.

There are some things I think I did better first time around, but I’m learning to forgive myself for not being perfect 😂.

I definitely won’t be making that mistake again.

Bring on the next one! 🪑

Yes, yes and more yes 😍😁🏡☕️📚

Why the French are so fabulous at decorating.

When it came to furniture and home decor, the French, particularly those in the provinces were spectacularly savvy when it came to recycling, upcycling, re-using, patching, repair and generally just using what they already have to make their houses comfortable, practical and chic.

Chicken wire was inexpensive and provided a practical solution to cupboard fronts: it also allowed for air circulation and protection.

Pages of old books and newspapers make excellent liners (although in fairness old newspapers would have been used back in the day because books were pricey and generally treasured).

Furniture often had multiple layers of paint to freshen them up or create a new look and were passed down from generation to generation as new furniture was often not accessible or affordable.

Damages, wear and tear were often left as a sign of age rather than fixed, and scraps of fabric became cushion, quilts and decorations.

I personally love this aesthetic and always have, my passion is deep rooted in a lifelong love of old things and while I often joke with a vintage China cup in hand I should have been born English, I wonder if I should have been born French too 😉🇫🇷🥐

I may have spilled too much paint over myself, hit my finger with the hammer twice, had several disagreements with the chicken wire and am clearly in desperate need of some more decoupage practise, but oh my heart…it was so worth it.

I do love a 1930s cabinet. Even better with a tin of fabulous Antoinette pink Annie Sloan chalk paint and stunning decoupage paper by MINT by michelle.

Starting to get my Christmas craft on again with my favourite fabric wreaths. This cutie was for a French themed Christmas, with a more traditional colour scheme in the back ground. They make the best Christmas pressies. I have several 😁.
I’ll be posting some for sale in the coming days so stay tuned. 🎄

Making yarn angels never gets old! I only ever made of these ones and would you believe they were both for a Lucy!! 💚
